Milan: fire at Ortomercato caused by arsonist caught on camera

Milan, 20 March (LaPresse) – It was a man of foreign origin who started the fire that broke out tonight in a pallet storage area at Milan's Ortomercato market, destroying three warehouses. It is reported that the arsonist was filmed on camera moving a group of pallets with a forklift, pouring flammable liquid on top – probably diesel or petrol, samples are being taken to ascertain the type of substance – and setting fire to the pile right near one of the burnt warehouses. The motives behind the act are not yet clear. In these hours, the fire brigade's vehicles are continuing their clean-up activities, in particular with earth moving to clear the area of the three destroyed warehouses. The Fire Investigation Unit has been activated and has already contacted the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office.
