Milan, 20th March (LaPresse) – Riccardo Chiarioni, the boy who, on the night between 31st August and 1st September last year, when he was still a minor, stabbed his parents and little brother to death in the family house in Paderno Dugnano, in the Milan area, was partially incapable of understanding and controlling his actions at the time of the triple homicide. This is the result of the psychiatric examination of the 18 year old ordered by the magistrate Laura Margherita Pietrasanta for minors in Milan and carried out by the consultant Franco Martelli. According to the conclusions of the defence, however, the young man is completely mentally ill. The examination by the psychiatrist Martelli, as far as we know, would have ascertained that the young man lived suspended between ‘reality and fantasy’ when he decided to kill his father, mother and 12-year-old brother, in the belief that – as recorded in the minutes after his arrest – by erasing his previous life he would be able to free himself from his uneasiness and achieve ‘immortality’. ‘An illness – states the defence lawyer Amedeo Rizza – that is now confirmed by two medical reports’. The content of the two reports will be discussed in detail during the next hearing of the trial, which is taking place under a shortened procedure, scheduled for 4 April.
