Rome, building explosion: man rescued alive from the rubble

Rome, March 23 (LaPresse) – A man was rescued from the rubble of a building that exploded, likely due to a gas leak, this morning in the Monteverde area of Rome. The man was loaded into an ambulance by rescuers and transported to the hospital. The Rome command's operations room sent several fire brigades to Via Vitellia, including special search units, due to the building explosion, which was most likely caused by a gas leak. Rescuers found the missing man, and with the help of emergency medical personnel from 118, they stabilized and extricated him. Search operations continue within the building with great caution due to the risk of further collapses, to ensure no other people are trapped. The two-story building, located at the intersection of Via Pio Foa and Via Vitellia, originally had three floors. The first and second floors have collapsed. Police, fire brigades, and 118 emergency services are on-site.
