Rome, explosion in the Monteverde district: building collapses

Rome, March 23 (LaPresse) – A powerful explosion has destroyed a building on Via Vitellia, in the Monteverde district of Rome. The incident occurred this morning just before 9 a.m. According to testimonies collected by LaPresse, a loud blast "like a bomb" was heard just before the collapse, and a strong smell of gas filled the area. The debris also destroyed several cars parked under the building. Emergency services are arriving on the scene, but no flames have been seen.
