Trento, 7 May (LaPresse) – Liabilities of almost 30 billion euros, 140 insolvency proceedings opened in Austria, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Luxembourg. These are the first numbers to emerge from the papers of the Vienna anti-corruption prosecutor's office, which on 23 January ordered the arrest of Renè Benko for the collapse of the Signa group, of which the tycoon was head. The former tycoon is still being held in solitary confinement: by 7 July the next hearing before the court will have to decide whether or not to extend his preventive detention. Benko is also being investigated by the Dda of Trento as part of the maxi-investigation into alleged links between politics and business: 77 people are in the register of suspects, including public administrators, politicians, entrepreneurs and professionals.
