Vatican City (Vatican), May 7 (LaPresse) – “We are here to invoke the help of the Holy Spirit, to plead for His light and strength so that the Pope whom the Church and humanity need in this difficult, complex, and troubled moment in history may be elected. Praying, invoking the Holy Spirit, is the only right and necessary attitude, as the Cardinal electors prepare for an act of the highest human and ecclesial responsibility and a decision of exceptional importance; a human act in which every personal consideration must be set aside, keeping only the God of Jesus Christ and the good of the Church and humanity in mind and heart.” These were the words of Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re in his homily during the Mass pro eligendo Romano Pontifice currently being held at St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.
