Rome, June 11 (LaPresse) – The position of the medical staff, including the doctor on board, who arrived at the illegal clinic in the Torrevecchia area of Rome with a private ambulance several hours after Ana Sergia Alcivar Chenche—who later died in hospital—suffered a medical emergency, is under investigation by the police. According to LaPresse sources, the investigation is also focusing on who gave instructions regarding the patient’s transport to the Policlinico Umberto I. There were closer hospitals to the illegal clinic, where the woman had undergone liposuction, which could have been reached more quickly without losing vital time for the already critically ill patient. Furthermore, none of those present reportedly called emergency services (118) or Policlinico Umberto I to notify them of the arrival of a patient in critical condition. Their positions are also being examined by the Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office, which may formally register them as suspects.
