Milan: alleged hacker wanted by the FBI arrested at Malpensa

Milan, 7 July (LaPresse) – A 33-year-old IT technician and Chinese citizen wanted by the American authorities for alleged involvement in a cyber espionage case was arrested as soon as he landed in Italy at Malpensa airport on 3 July. According to the FBI, the man is a member of a group of hackers responsible for the 2020 attack on an American database containing confidential information on Covid vaccines being tested at the University of Texas. Defended by lawyer Enrico Giarda, the 33-year-old is now awaiting the decision of the Italian judges: the extradition hearing is set for tomorrow before the Milan Court of Appeal.
