Rome, Sept. 23 (LaPresse) – Since the early hours of today, the Special Operations Group (ROS) of the Carabinieri, with the support of the territorially competent provincial commands, has been carrying out a pre-trial detention order issued by the Court of Reggio Calabria at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA).
The measure concerns 26 suspects accused, in various capacities, of mafia association, extortion, money laundering, self-laundering, illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, bid rigging, aiding and abetting, and fraudulent transfer of assets — crimes aggravated by the mafia method.
The investigation, coordinated by the DDA of Reggio Calabria, targeted the Piromalli clan, considered one of the most influential branches of the ‘Ndrangheta. Investigators have reconstructed the clan’s structure and criminal activities, deemed strategic within the organization.
