Milan Stadium: Council approves sale to Inter and Milan

Milan, 30 September (LaPresse) – After a marathon session lasting almost 12 hours, Milan City Council approved the resolution to sell the Meazza stadium to Inter and Milan. There were 24 votes in favour, 20 against and two abstentions. The resolution on San Siro divided both the centre-left and centre-right: those opposed in the majority were Alessandro Giungi, Rosario Pantaleo, Angelo Turco of the Democratic Party, the entire Europa Verde group with councillors Tommaso Gorini, Francesca Cucchiara and Carlo Monguzzi, and Enrico Fedrighini of the Mixed Group. Marco Fumagalli did not vote and resigned as leader of the Sala List. On the centre-right, Fratelli d’Italia and Lega voted en bloc for “no”, Manfredi Palmeri of the Bernardo list did not take part in the vote, while Forza Italia, as announced yesterday afternoon, chose to leave the chamber, with the exception of Alessandro De Chirico, who voted against.
