Milan, Oct 1 (LaPresse) – “With the approval of the bill for the prevention and treatment of obesity, Italy is making an important step forward in protecting public health. We are the first to recognize obesity as a chronic disease. We are talking about a global health problem that affects not only adults but also children,” said Health Minister Orazio Schillaci. “The constant rise in obesity and the increasing incidence of related chronic degenerative, metabolic, and oncological diseases not only put the health of our citizens at risk but also place significant pressure on our healthcare system. This law strengthens the commitment to combating obesity by focusing decisively on prevention as well as specific training for healthcare personnel. It is an important and concrete response to protect the health of our citizens,” Schillaci concluded.
