Rome, 22 October (LaPresse) – According to judicial sources, the Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into allegations of kidnapping and damage with risk of shipwreck, following complaints filed by lawyers assisting the Italian delegation on the Global Sumud Flotilla, including that of activist Antonio La Picciarella, represented by lawyer Flavio Rossi Albertini. The investigation, currently against persons unknown, aims to clarify the allegations made by the Italian participants, 36 activists who will be heard in the coming weeks. The charges include attempted murder and acts of torture. The Roman magistrates will have to reconstruct the flotilla’s journey, the “assaults” carried out with drones on two separate occasions, and the events following the boarding by Israeli forces.
