Palermo, 24 October (LaPresse) – Former prefect Filippo Piritore has been arrested for misdirection, allegedly lying about the glove found in the car used by the killers who murdered former Sicilian regional president Piersanti Mattarella. At the time of the events, Piritore was an officer with the Palermo mobile police squad. When questioned about the garment found in the 127 used by the killers, he made statements to the Palermo magistrates that were completely unsubstantiated. That glove was never seized or catalogued. The prosecution believes that he thus contributed to misdirecting the investigation.
