Rome, Oct. 24 (LaPresse) – Water cannons were used again on pro-Palestinian protesters who marched in Rome and then turned back along Via Monteverdi towards Piazza Verdi. Police employed the water cannons to stop the demonstrators. The march was trapped between two police cordons on Via Monteverdi. After lengthy negotiations, police had reopened a passage to allow protesters to leave, and the demonstrators sat on the ground in protest, singing “Bella ciao” and chanting against Prime Minister Meloni. Tensions were reported during the exit, with further use of water cannons. The passage was subsequently closed again. Earlier, clashes with law enforcement occurred after participants tried to break through the cordon, chanting “March, march” to reach the Auditorium Parco della Musica, where the Rome Film Festival is taking place, aiming to pass by the Israeli Embassy in protest.
