Garlasco crime: carabiniere spoke to lawyer Sempio with a wiretapped phone

Milan, 2 Nov. (LaPresse) – The marshal of the judicial police of Pavia, Giuseppe Spoto, spoke with Andrea Sempio’s first lawyer, the lawyer Federico Soldani, with the 37-year-old’s phone which was being intercepted by the Pavia Prosecutor’s Office itself. This is what emerges from the information from the investigative unit of the Milan Carabinieri sent to the Brescia Prosecutor’s Office in July in the investigation into the alleged corruption of the former deputy Mario Venditti by Giuseppe Sempio. On 8 February 2017, during the notification to the Voghera clerk of the invitation to appear for questioning two days later in the first investigation that involved him for the Garlasco crime, Spoto (now on leave and the subject of two seizures in the investigation into Venditti) went at 4.35 pm to the Montebello della Battaglia shopping center and not to Sempio’s “house”, as erroneously reported in a second report from the Gico della Battaglia financial police sent on 30 July 2025 to prosecutor Claudia Moregola.”Sempio calls the lawyer Soldani and passes the phone”, under surveillance, “to Marshal Spoto present there”, the soldiers note. A conversation starts with the defender: “Look, in fact… I came down on purpose today… first of all I have to ask you something, then I’ll ask Andrea too… The magistrates have set the interrogation for the 10th so the deadline would have to be waived if it’s not a problem for you” says the soldier. They discuss for a few seconds the waiver of the terms of defense for the imminent summons of Sempio to the Prosecutor’s Office and where to elect the “domicile” of the suspect. It is the lawyer Soldani who asks halfway through the conversation: “Are you telling me something or are you not telling me anything? What’s the mood?”. An exchange of words follows. “But I don’t know because I’m a simple ambassador – replies the carabiniere – you know how it is… ambassador doesn’t bring punishment”. “Do you think… that the air is good?” continues the defender. “But no, I mean… if they want to talk to him… you’ll have to see. Draw your own conclusions” replies the marshal.
