Milan, 21 Nov. (LaPresse) – The hearing before the Milan Review Court on the case of the former Pirellino di Coima, who is accused of undue inducement to give and promise benefits to the former chairman of the landscape commission, Giuseppe Marinoni, began a few minutes ago. In the urban planning investigation, the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office is asking the judges to impose disqualification from public office and a ban on conducting business activities on Giancarlo Tancredi, former councillor for urban regeneration who returned to the municipality after the Supreme Court revoked his disqualification for corruption, and property developer Manfredi Catella (whose arrest was overturned in August) for allegedly “pressuring” Marinoni in the run-up to the June 2023 meeting, at which the commission changed its opinion on the “Torre Botanica” real estate project. The former chairman of the commission, the mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, architect Stefano Boeri and the director general of Palazzo Marino, Christian Malangone, are also under investigation (without any request for precautionary measures). In July, investigating magistrate Mattia Fiorentini did not recognise the measures, despite writing that Marinoni had bowed to the demands of builders and the administration and was “unworthy” of holding public office because of his closeness to private property developers who paid him in his “dual role as a public official and professional”.
