Rome, Nov. 22 (LaPresse) – “Last night in Bologna, once again, we witnessed yet another situation in which, on the one hand, there were people looking for just any excuse to stage their usual unacceptable violence; on the other, the police forces confirmed themselves as the bulwark of authentic democratic values. These values are certainly not just words, but are defended with balance and professionalism. My solidarity goes out to the fourteen officers who were injured, and I am confident that the ongoing investigations will ensure that those responsible for the violence, including fifteen people who have already been identified, are held accountable.” So said Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi. “Once again,” he added, “a noisy minority of professional thugs has been prevented from undermining the freedom of everyone. Our government will never allow this to happen. I would like to express my appreciation, full support, and sincere thanks to the officers working in the field, the prefect, and the police chief of Bologna for the firmness and balance they have shown on this occasion.”
