Garlasco murder, expert: “Strong Sempio trace but identification impossible”

Milan, Dec. 4 (LaPresse) – The results of the biostatistical calculations provide “support” ranging from “moderately strong” to “strong and moderate” for the hypothesis that Andrea Sempio or “all male relatives” of his paternal line contributed to the “mixed and partial” DNA traces found on the fifth finger of the right hand and the first of the left hand of Chiara Poggi. However, “the analysis of the Y chromosome does not allow” the “identification of a single individual” and would not allow it even if the genetic profiles on the fingers of the 26-year-old killed in Garlasco on August 13, 2007, were “complete, consolidated, and attributable to a single source.” These are the conclusions of the expert witness for the preliminary hearing of the Garlasco murder, Denise Albani, in the report submitted yesterday to the judge Daniela Garlaschelli in Pavia.
