Valtellina: helicopter crash, all occupants unharmed

Milan, 4 December (LaPresse) – All occupants of the helicopter that crashed this morning in La Prese, Lanzada, in the municipality of Sondrio, Valtellina, are unharmed. LaPresse has learned this from rescue workers on site. Contrary to initial reports, there were five people on board. The helicopter was working on a landslide that occurred in the area on 11 November. The aircraft was very close to the surface when it struck a rock and crashed. The Drago 166 helicopter from the Lombardy Fire Brigade’s flight department was sent to the scene, with specialised helicopter rescue personnel on board. At the same time, a SAF (Speleo Alpino Fluviale) team from the Sondrio Provincial Command was mobilised from the ground.
