Publishing, Saviano to Zerocalcare: “You think you’re pure? None of us are”

Rome, Dec. 9 (LaPresse) – “Of course, you can choose not to go, but proclaiming your choice every single time — ‘I’m not going there because of this,’ ‘I’m not going there for that reason’ — becomes just a way to tell yourself and others that you are ‘pure,’ different, consistent. And do they really fall for it? None of us is pure. Each of us works, willingly or not, with multinationals that limit union rights or evade taxes through offshore platforms, and the problem is the book fair. Come on.”

This is what Roberto Saviano told Repubblica, commenting on cartoonist Zerocalcare’s decision not to participate in ‘Più libri più liberi’ to protest against AIE’s choice to host the publishing house Passaggio al bosco.
