Rome, Dec. 12 (LaPresse) – Francesco Valeriano, the 45-year-old man beaten in Rebibbia prison, has died. The news was reported by OSAPP. Valeriano was “originally from Fondi, a detainee who had been fighting between life and death for months after a brutal assault by other inmates in Rebibbia prison.” He had been “arrested last April 15 for stalking his ex-wife. Valeriano was initially held in Cassino prison, then transferred, after about a month and a half, to the Rebibbia correctional facility. In August, according to several news outlets, he was attacked and beaten to a pulp inside the institution. The officers found him agonizing, with severe brain injuries, and he was urgently transferred to the Policlinico Umberto I in Rome, where he remained in a coma, left – as some newspapers wrote – ‘on the verge of death’.”.
