School: Mim circular, ensuring discussion between different positions

Milan, 12 December. (LaPresse) – In a new circular sent to schools, the Ministry of Education and Merit reiterates that, with regard to public events and demonstrations within educational institutions, “the choice of guests and speakers must be aimed at ensuring a comparison between different and pluralistic positions in order to allow students to acquire in-depth knowledge of the topics covered and develop critical thinking”. The circular sent today, it is explained, reiterates the contents of a previous circular ‘also in light of some recent school initiatives that did not appear to be in line with the guidance provided, which is to be understood as a directive for school principals.’ The reference is to the webinar during which Francesca Albanese, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, allegedly ‘accused the Meloni government of being ‘fascist’ and complicit in genocide, attacked Leonardo, calling it ‘criminal’, and even invited the students to occupy their schools. Translated: incitement to commit crimes, during school hours, under the eyes of some teachers who nodded in agreement.”
