Vote trading and extortion, arrests in Lazio and Campania

Rome, 17 December (LaPresse) – Since the early hours of this morning, the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Latina have been executing a personal and real precautionary measure issued by the investigating magistrate of the Court of Rome, at the request of the Capital’s District Anti-Mafia Prosecutor’s Office. The measures concern individuals seriously suspected, for various reasons, of political-mafia vote trading, extortion aggravated by mafia methods, fraudulent transfer of assets and disruption of public auctions. Among those targeted is an individual believed to belong to the “Licciardi” Camorra clan, part of the Secondigliano Alliance. At the same time, preventive seizure is underway, for the purposes of confiscation, of real estate and company shares with a total value of more than €10 million. The operation involves Rome, Naples, Terracina, Latina and the surrounding province.
