Trento, Dec. 28 (LaPresse) – The 31-year-old Roman freerider who was caught by an avalanche on the Marmolada yesterday afternoon and dragged into a crevasse did not survive. Edoardo Conti died at Santa Chiara Hospital in Trento, where he had arrived in critical condition. The young man was traversing at an altitude of about 2,700 meters, below Punta Rocca, when an avalanche presumably swept him away, throwing him over a rock drop into one of the many crevasses in the area. Friends who were initially with him raised the alarm after losing contact with him for about half an hour. Recovery and avalanche clearance operations were complex.
