Milan: Aurora Livoli dies, prosecutor considers femicide charge

Milan, Jan. 8 (LaPresse) – Aurora Livoli was allegedly strangled with his hands by Gabriel Valdez Velazco during the sexual assault. This is what we have learned from the interrogation of the 57-year-old man born in Lima, Peru, conducted today by prosecutors Antonio Pansa and Letizia Mannella, who returned to the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office about half an hour ago. Under the coordination of Prosecutor Marcello Viola, investigators are considering whether to charge the man for the first time in Milan with the new crime of femicide, which punishes anyone who causes the death of a woman with “an act of hatred or discrimination or abuse of power” or ‘as an act of control or possession or domination as a woman, or in relation to the woman’s refusal to establish or maintain a romantic relationship or as an act of limitation of her individual freedoms’. In the next few hours, a request for preventive detention will be filed with the investigating magistrate against Valdez Velasco, who is currently being held only on charges of robbery and aggravated assault for incidents other than the murder of the 19-year-old, with the arrest already validated by investigating magistrate Nora Lisa Passoni.
