Rome, Jan. 9 (LaPresse) – The Supreme Court of Cassation has declared inadmissible the appeal filed by the defense of Gianni Alemanno. His lawyers, Cesare Placanica and Edoardo Albertario, had appealed the 22-month prison sentence. The former mayor of Rome is currently serving his sentence at Rebibbia prison. The judicial case concerns a conviction for influence peddling. The proceedings are part of one of the strands of the investigation known as “Mondo di Mezzo.” During the same trial, Alemanno had been acquitted of all other charges. The Supreme Court therefore confirmed the decision of the lower court judges. The arrest dates back to December 31, 2025. The measure was ordered following violations of the prescribed conditions. These irregularities emerged during the execution of the alternative measure to detention.
