Milano-Cortina, Interior Ministry: “Security Solely Under Italian Responsibility”

Rome, Jan. 27 (LaPresse) – All security operations on the territory during the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics “remain, as always, under the sole responsibility and direction of the Italian authorities.” This was stated by the Interior Ministry following a meeting this morning between Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi and the U.S. Ambassador to Italy, Tilman J. Fertitta. During the National Committee for Public Order and Security, chaired by Minister Piantedosi in preparation for the security plan for the Milan-Cortina Olympics, an update was given on the progress of security planning activities, confirming the inter-force cooperation model and the constant coordination among all involved administrations, in line with the standards provided for major international events.
