Rome, Jan. 28 (LaPresse) – “In 2025, 99 femicides were monitored, confirming the persistence of systemic violence against women.” This is reported in the Report on the State of Rights in Italy, produced by ‘A Buon Diritto’ with the support of the Waldensian Eight per Thousand, presented today in the press room of the Chamber of Deputies.
The report highlights that “73% of women who contact the anti-violence helpline 1522 do not file a complaint, a figure that reflects deep distrust in protection mechanisms and structural difficulties in accessing pathways out of violence. Regarding reproductive rights, access to voluntary termination of pregnancy remains heavily restricted: conscientious objection rates exceed 60%, with territorial differences directly affecting the enforceability of the right. The report also notes the gradual weakening of family counseling centers, reducing women’s opportunities to receive information, support, and guidance. Public policies are predominantly focused on criminal repression, without adequate investment in prevention, services, and economic independence. In this context, women’s self-determination appears as a formally recognized right but is practically hindered by structural factors that limit its exercise.”
