Milan, 19 February (LaPresse) – Milan magistrate Roberto Crepaldi has validated the emergency judicial control decree against Glovo-Foodinho and ordered the Spanish food delivery giant, which is under investigation for illegal hiring of 2,000 riders in Milan and 40,000 throughout Italy by public prosecutor Paolo Storari and the Carabinieri labour inspectorate, that the judicial administrator, accountant Andrea Adriano Romanò, to “regularise the workers” who, at the time the investigation began, were “providing their services”, also to prevent “repeated violations”. The judicial administrator is also tasked with carrying out “checks” on “working conditions and regulations” which, if violated, represent an “indication of exploitation” and with “adopting appropriate measures”, including those other than those “proposed” by the company, to prevent the recurrence of illegal hiring practices involving delivery riders. In the investigation, the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office contests salaries that are up to 76.95% below the poverty line and 81.62% below the sector’s collective agreements.
