Naples, checks after murders: 49-year-old arrested, had a gun at home

Milan, 8 March (LaPresse) – Following the murders in Marano and Arzano, the provincial police have intensified checks with massive interventions in the area north of Naples. Last night, the Arzano police, the Castello di Cisterna investigative unit and the Casoria military carried out a series of targeted searches. The streets were combed inch by inch. A 49-year-old man from Arzano with no previous criminal record ended up in handcuffs. The man must answer for possession of an illegal firearm. The Carabinieri raided the man’s home and found and seized an 8-millimetre calibre model 85 pistol with a modified 7.65-calibre barrel and a magazine loaded with seven 3.80-calibre bullets. The 49-year-old was transferred to prison. The weapon will undergo ballistic testing to verify whether it has been used in any violent crimes or other offences.
