Rome, 4 April (LaPresse) – Blow to the Camorra: last night in Vietri sul Mare, in the province of Salerno, Carabinieri from the Investigative Unit of the Naples Provincial Command, coordinated and directed by the Naples Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA), tracked down and arrested Roberto Mazzarella. The man, head of the clan of the same name which dominates Naples and its province, was on the Ministry of the Interior’s list of most dangerous fugitives. Mazzarella, 48, had been on the run since 28 January 2025 and had evaded capture following a pre-trial detention order issued by the Court of Naples at the request of the Naples Anti-Mafia Directorate, as he was suspected of murder aggravated by mafia methods. The boss was located in a luxury villa on the Amalfi Coast and offered no resistance upon arrest. He was in the company of his wife and two children. The operation involved the “Cacciatori di Calabria” squadron, the Api unit of the Naples group, as well as a patrol boat from the Salerno Port Authority, which was monitoring the surrounding waters. At the luxury resort, the Carabinieri found three valuable watches, around €20,000 in cash, several forged documents, mobile phones, smartphones and handwritten notes relating to what appears to be accounting records, which will be subject to further investigation.
