Bad weather: A14 reopened between Poggio Imperiale and Vasto Sud following the Petacciato landslide

Campobasso, 9 Apr. (LaPresse) – The A14 motorway was reopened at 12 noon today on the section between Poggio Imperiale and Vasto Sud, which had been closed since 7 April due to the Petacciato landslide. Traffic has resumed on both carriageways following the removal of the debris and the completion of the necessary safety works. The section had been closed in both directions following the reactivation of the landslide affecting the slope between Molise and Abruzzo, causing serious disruption to traffic along the Adriatic corridor and effectively splitting the Adriatic corridor into two sections. The reopening restores one of the country’s main north-south links, although monitoring of the landslide front continues and caution remains advised in the area affected by the instability. Near the Petacciato landslide, traffic is restricted to the northbound carriageway.
