Rome, 15 April (LaPresse) – In recent days, the Carabinieri of the Cesena Company, with the assistance of colleagues from the Bologna Dog Unit, arrested a 23-year-old man suspected of the offences of possession of drugs with intent to supply, resisting arrest and causing bodily harm to a public official, illegal possession of weapon parts and ammunition, and carrying weapons or instruments capable of causing harm. This arrest stemmed from a more complex investigation, commissioned by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Forlì and conducted by the Carabinieri of Cesena, for which searches had been ordered against seven young people, aged between 19 and 25, believed to be responsible for two incidents of sexual violence committed in Cesena against a young woman. The initial investigation leading to the search warrants stemmed from a complaint filed by a young woman who, one evening in early April, whilst at the home of acquaintances, taking advantage of a state of impairment caused by the use of substances, was forced to undergo group sexual acts, following which she sustained various injuries, deemed to be curable within about ten days by medical staff at Bufalini Hospital. Video footage was also recorded on the mobile phones used by the alleged perpetrators. The prompt investigations launched by the Carabinieri – during which a widespread availability of drugs amongst the group of young people was also discovered – made it possible to identify the alleged perpetrators of the reported incidents and gather various pieces of evidence against them.
