Rome, 19 April. (LaPresse) – “I spoke on the phone this morning to the deputy director of Digos Francesco Romano, who was injured yesterday in Rome while carrying out his work in the service of maintaining public order during a demonstration called by anarchist groups. I expressed all my solidarity and closeness to him, together with the profound consideration I have for him and for all those who, like him, silently carry out their duty every day with dedication and a sense of responsibility, on the front line to guarantee the safety and freedom of citizens and respect for the law”. Thus the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi. “In a phase in which demonstrations increasingly become the occasion for acts of gratuitous violence, the commitment, professionalism and courage of the police forces represent an example of civility for all, an indispensable safeguard for civil coexistence. I will invite the deputy director Romano to the Interior Ministry to meet him shortly in person and renew closeness and esteem to him on behalf of myself and the Government for the professionalism and courage demonstrated”, he concludes.
