Milan, 23 Apr. (LaPresse) – ‘Technical and vocational education is one of the great challenges of the future, one of the pillars of the Italian education system; we must break down the prejudice whereby, at times in the past, it was considered a second-class education. We must recognise that it no longer makes sense to distinguish between grammar schools and technical and vocational colleges’. This was stated by the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, during the “Maestro del Made in Italy” Awards. Valditara explained that ‘when Aristotle and Theophrastus spoke of the lyceum, they were also referring to agronomy and zoology, for example’. Thus, ‘a lyceum that dealt with the surrounding world, not just philosophy or grammar’.
