Milan, 24 May (LaPresse) – Turnout is down nationwide for the local elections: at 12 noon, according to the Interior Ministry’s Eligendo website, the figure – based on 6,063 out of 6,278 polling stations – stands at 14.75%, one percentage point lower than the previous nationwide figure of 15.74%. Polling stations opened at 7 am this morning and will close at 11 pm, reopening tomorrow from 7 am to 3 pm. A total of 894 municipalities are holding elections: of these, 121 are municipalities with more than 15,000 inhabitants (including 18 provincial capitals) and 773 are municipalities with 15,000 inhabitants or fewer. Over 6.6 million Italians are eligible to vote
