Genoa, 31 May (LaPresse) – Preliminary hearings will be held late on Wednesday morning for Emanuela Aiello, mother of little Beatrice, and Manuel Iannuzzi, the woman’s partner who was arrested last Saturday on charges of aggravated child abuse following the death of the two-year-old girl, found dead in Bordighera on 9 February. The charge is the same for both; according to the investigators, who requested and obtained the preventive detention order for the man, they have identified extremely serious evidence pointing to a pattern of abuse suffered by the child, who died from a head injury and was not given medical assistance after being brutally beaten. Iannuzzi is currently being held in Imperia prison, whilst Aiello is being held in Turin prison, having been transferred there months ago from the women’s facility in Pontedecimo, Genoa.
