Rome, 14 June (LaPresse) – Tragedy in the mountains on the Vicenza side of Monte Pasubio, where two climbers lost their lives after a fall late this morning in the Sojo d’Uderle area. According to initial reports, the victims were a 26-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, who fell approximately 100 metres down the rock face. A third member of the climbing party was rescued alive by the rescue helicopter whilst still secured to the rock face. The alarm was raised shortly before midday. Rescue workers attended the scene, but there was nothing that could be done for the two young people. The recovery operations were made particularly difficult by adverse weather conditions and fog, which necessitated the deployment of a helicopter from Trento. Investigations are underway to establish the exact circumstances of the accident.
