L’Aquila, 21 June (LaPresse) – The two young sisters, who went missing from a children’s home two weeks ago and were found this evening in the Southern Pontino area thanks to a coordinated operation by the Carabinieri of the L’Aquila Operational Unit, will be entrusted to the mayor of Formia, Gianluca Taddeo, the two young sisters who went missing from a children’s home two weeks ago and were found this evening in the Sud Pontino area thanks to a coordinated operation by the Carabinieri from the L’Aquila Operational Unit, the ROS special operations group and officers from the Carabinieri Provincial Command in Latina, coordinated by the Chief Prosecutor of the Court of Sulmona (L’Aquila), Luciano D’Angelo, who spoke to the girls on the phone shortly after they were found. The mayor of Formia will be responsible for finding suitable accommodation for the two teenagers, who are well but shaken by what has happened and concerned about the media furore caused by their disappearance. Investigations are underway to determine whether anyone bears criminal responsibility. A press conference is scheduled for tomorrow at 11.30 am at the Court in Sulmona (L’Aquila) to clarify the details of the case. The girls had been living for around two years in a children’s home in Civitella Alfedena, a small mountain village in the Abruzzo National Park, following a sudden separation of their parents. The father had regained parental responsibility at the end of March, whilst the mother’s had been revoked. The girls had gone missing during the night between Saturday and Sunday, 7 June, and a search had been underway ever since. This evening, the good news of their discovery finally arrived. In the last few hours, the older girl’s boyfriend had been interviewed again; his statements may have helped in the search.
