L’Aquila, 25 June (LaPresse) – The judge for preliminary investigations, Giulia Sani, has confirmed the detention of Valentina D’Acunto, mother of the two young sisters who were abducted from Civitella Alfedena (L’Aquila) and found in Formia (Latina) 15 days later, as well as that of Marco D’Acunto, the girls’ paternal grandfather, and Vincenzo Esposito, the mother’s partner. The judge has ordered the precautionary measure of compulsory residence within the province of Latina, granting the request made by the Public Prosecutor’s Office. The measure also requires those concerned to report to the Carabinieri twice a day. The Public Prosecutor’s Office deemed pre-trial detention unnecessary, in line with constitutional principles which require the least possible restriction on personal liberty when applying precautionary measures. The decision responds to the need to prevent the repetition of offences of the same nature.
