Florence, 2 July (LaPresse) – The green flag has been hoisted at the trifore of Siena’s Palazzo Pubblico, signifying that the Palio scheduled for 2 July has been postponed until tomorrow due to adverse weather conditions, as provided for in Article 90 of the Palio Regulations. The rain that has fallen since yesterday evening, Wednesday 1 July, and continued for much of this morning, the City Council states in a press release, makes it impossible to hold the Historical Procession and the Race, which will take place, weather permitting, at the same times tomorrow, Friday 3 July. At 3.30 pm and 4 pm, the firecrackers will be set off for the first and second warnings, followed at 4.40 pm by the start of clearing the track to allow the parade of the mounted Carabinieri squad to take place at 5.15 pm. At 5.20 pm, the Historical Procession will enter Piazza del Campo. At 7.30 pm, the horses will leave the Cortile del Podestà for the Palio. From 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm, access to the inner part of the square – the so-called ‘conchiglia’ – will be permitted up to the maximum permitted capacity, exclusively via Via Dupré.
