Naples, July 3 (LaPresse) – A 60-year-old man from Cilento, who was wanted across Europe following a final conviction for exploitation of prostitution, sexual assault, and assault, was tracked down and arrested in Brazil. The International Police Cooperation Service—Fugitives Section I in Rome—executed a European arrest warrant against him based on investigations by the Investigative Unit of the Salerno Provincial Carabinieri Command. The alleged crimes were committed between March and May 2017 in the province of Salerno. The man, who had been sentenced to a total of 4 years and 3 months in prison, had gone into hiding to evade his sentence and fled to Brazil. Subsequently, thanks to the investigative work conducted by the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of the Salerno Provincial Command—with the support of the Carabinieri from the Ogliastro Cilento Station, where the investigation originated—the fugitive was identified and located in the South American country, enabling the activation of international cooperation procedures that led to his capture.
