Rome, Jul. 7 (LaPresse) – In relation to the operation carried out by the Special Operations Group of the Carabinieri, coordinated by the Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Rome Military Prosecutor’s Office, which led to the execution of precautionary measures and searches as part of a complex investigation into alleged espionage activities targeting national security, Defence Minister Guido Crosetto expressed his appreciation for the work carried out by the judiciary and investigators. The minister also ordered that the Defence Administration ensure maximum cooperation with the judicial authorities for any further investigative activities deemed necessary. “I wish to express my most sincere thanks and congratulations to the magistrates and investigators of the Special Operations Group of the Carabinieri for the professionalism, expertise and determination demonstrated in conducting such a complex and sensitive investigation. There can be no tolerance, especially when individuals holding positions of responsibility are involved, towards those who compromise or endanger the security of the Republic. The protection of national security, classified information and institutions represents a primary interest of the State and allows no form of compromise. The Defence Ministry will continue to cooperate with the judicial authorities with the utmost transparency, institutional loyalty and firmness, adopting any further initiatives necessary to safeguard the integrity of its structures and strengthen citizens’ trust in institutions,” Crosetto stated.
