Rome, July 9 (LaPresse) – A man allegedly carried out a long series of acts of violence against his partner, eventually trying to suffocate her, while their minor children were present. For this reason, the man was arrested by police in Ladispoli after the child called 112. The investigation is being coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Civitavecchia. The man is the woman’s partner and the father of the family. He is now – according to authorities – “seriously suspected of attempted murder, abuse, personal injury and resisting a public official”. A call to 112, received by the police headquarters’ operations room at dawn on June 28, revealed the systematic domestic violence regime of which the woman had allegedly been a victim for some time. The child asked for help, crying, and reported that his father was suffocating his mother. When officers entered the home, they found a woman in tears, lying on the bed and surrounded by her four minor children. The woman’s partner, also the children’s father, was present in the house and displayed aggressive behaviour, attributed to alcohol consumption, showing no hesitation in opposing the officers even after being restrained. Taken to the emergency room that same morning, the woman reportedly suffered injuries that were deemed treatable within 20 days. The man was arrested in the act and taken to prison in Civitavecchia.
