According to the Ministry of Health’s heat bulletin, two cities are currently on ‘red alert’ – level 3, which indicates emergency conditions (heatwave) with possible adverse effects on the health of healthy, active people, and not just on at-risk groups such as the elderly, very young children and those with chronic illnesses – namely Florence and Perugia, which have been grappling with the sweltering heat for the past three days. But tomorrow the situation will worsen, with Brescia, Florence, Perugia and Turin ‘on red alert’, and on Wednesday 15 July, the list of the seven cities most affected by the heat will include Bologna, Brescia, Florence, Frosinone, Perugia, Rome and Turin.
