Milan, 20 July (LaPresse) – Commander Alfa, co-founder of the Carabinieri’s Special Intervention Group (GIS), has died aged 75. “It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Commander Alfa. He leaves us as a truly special man, who shared his warmth, values and memories, which will remain forever in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him – and beyond. We ask that you respect this time of mourning with discretion and sensitivity,” reads the post on the Facebook page dedicated to him. Originally from Castelvetrano, in the province of Trapani, he served as a lieutenant in the Carabinieri and, during his career, was involved in a number of operations, such as the riot at the high-security prison in Trani. He wrote several books, including ‘Cuore di rondine’ and ‘Io vivo nell’ombra’.
