When asked about parallels with the American ICE model, he replied categorically: “No. The US model is very different, both in terms of the rules governing self-defence and the use of firearms by the police. After 40 years’ experience as a public prosecutor, I know that our law enforcement agencies have always exercised great caution in the use of firearms.”
