Como: man dives into the lake to help his 16-year-old son and does not resurface

Milan, 25 July (LaPresse) – Emergency services were called to Menaggio on Lake Como to assist a 45-year-old Dutch tourist who dived into the lake from a boat and did not resurface. According to initial reports, the man dived in after one of his three children, aged 16, reportedly got into difficulty, whilst the other two remained on board the boat. The teenagers caught the attention of some passing fishermen, who pulled the boy aboard, but did not see the father. The search has been underway since around 12.45: on the scene are the Menaggio fire brigade, the water rescue team from the Como fire brigade, the Dongo fire brigade with a support boat, and divers who arrived from Malpensa on the Drago 153 helicopter. Further specialist divers are on their way from Turin. Also present are the Coastguard, the Carabinieri and staff from the 118 emergency service.
