Migrants: Italy orders closure of maritime and air borders with Spain

Rome, July 31. (LaPresse) – The Ministry of the Interior has ordered the closure of the sea and air borders with Spain. The decision, a statement reads, “was made following the most recent information findings analyzed, particularly in the Immigration and Border Security Analysis Committee, which Minister Matteo Piantedosi chaired this morning at the Ministry of the Interior.” Furthermore, following a telephone conversation between Minister Piantedosi and his French counterpart, Laurent Nuñez, “the opportunity was shared to strengthen controls along the land border between the two countries as part of collaborative agreements between police forces previously signed between France and Italy.”
