Pope: “World powers overpower others, no to force that humiliates”

Rome, Aug. 6 (LaPresse) – “The great figures of the Earth and the powerful of the world” seek “visibility and overshadow others”, while Jesus’ example is instead one of service and his desire “for the Church is clear: it is to become his body and manifest his life, to follow his example and exercise a different kind of power, one that does not humiliate but lifts others up.” Pope Leo XIV said this while meeting young people in Assisi. Prevost then highlighted the example of Saint Francis, who in his life followed God’s example according to the rule: “Do not dominate, but serve; do not seize, but receive; do not hold back, but give back.”
